Summary/Abstract: In the article its authoress introduced the range of ecological and economic questions included in Goldman Environmental Prize, its origin and the way of granting. The authoress took down all hitherto existing laureates and kinds of the distinguished activity. She also executed the analyses of the meaning of the prize for contemporary ecologists. The Goldman Environmental Prize belong to the highly valued ecological prizes in the world and it is called „Green Nobel”. Similarly, as in the case of the Nobel Prize, appreciates the Goldman Prize winners contribution in the protection of the natural environment in various regions and in implementations of the principles of the Sustainable Development. The practical side of the opinion of potential laureates Goldman Environmental Prize is predominant and taken into account in the procedure of granting. In the spirit of the Mother Gaia and Earth-Space-Ship the world environment is the whole, like in the procedure of the Goldman Environmental Prize.
