Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is the analysis of formal, nonformal and informal education undertaken by people aged 25–64 in Poland. Within the particular aims there is the analisys of those who invest in the form of education; analysis of the most common actions to broaden knowledge, skills, competencies; identification of barriers that cause difficulties in human capital investments and profits. The starting point of the analysis is human capital theory. The ctitical literature review and the analysis of statistical data were undertaken to achieve the goal of the article. Sources of information are publications in Polish and English and statistic data published by Eurostat, OECD and CSO. The main challenge is the availability of current data and their comparability. Investment in human capital by education is becoming important in face of Life Long Learning policy. Poland, compared to other EU countries, stands out in negative way.
