Resistance and Creativity – the Comparison of Two French Movements

Summary/Abstract: The urban youth movement Nuit debout, born in February 2016 as a protest movement against the amendment of the Labor Law, was analyzed in April by Frédéric Lordon with respect to political subject and object, horizontality and verticality and the movement’s attitude to representative democracy. Following him we compare this movement with ZAD, another youth movement which was launched about ten years ago in the countryside. How do these movements relate to the past, and to the neoliberal forces fighting to destroy it (resistance), and to the future (creativity)?
