Summary/Abstract: The article investigates the problem of competitive environment formation in Ukraine, analyzes the dynamics of the level of competition in the economy as a whole and separately by industry. Also, a comparative analysis of the level of competition in commodity markets with the dynamics of investment expenditures of business entities was made. On the basis of this analysis it was concluded that the first is related to the changes in the second. It is proved that the nature of the problems that limit the development of the competitive environment lies in the plane of the institutional imperfection of the competition protection system, which is carried out by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
