Summary/Abstract: Tarasovič’s analysis of the Iranian presidential election that took place in the second half of June 2005 focuses on five topics: the consequences of the victory of the conservatives for Iran; the possible impact of this victory on the Gulf region; the reasons behind the failure of the reformists to win the election; the possible impact of Ahmadi-Nejad’s victory on the Iran-West relationship; and the possible approaches of the opposition, both at home and abroad, to resolve the current political situation in Iran.
