Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problems of sociocultural and computer-assisted language learning. The sociocultural approach to language learning is spreading, while computer-assisted language learning is considered as attractive and effective. The article gives a theoretical background to these statements. The educational software "LINC - an Interactive. Approach to Language and Culture" is presented in the article too. This programme is based on both the previously discussed methods of language learning and additionally has special data input. The basis of every lesson (in total of 30) is an authentic video extract from target language TV. The interactive programme LINC provides the learner with exploratory learning environments, in which video components, sound and image text are fully integrated. LINC software related to 18 European languages is already available or will be available in the nearest future, including Lithuanian LINC.
