Summary/Abstract: Exploatarea raţională a rezultatelor cercetării ştiinţifice depinde în primul rând de accesul la aceste rezultate. Acest principiu a determinat apariţia în mediile de cercetare a mişcării arhivelor deschise (Open archives), în scopul de a promova un acces liber şi gratuit la literatura ştiinţifică mondială. Articolul prezintă principalele repere ale originilor şi evoluţiilor mişcării Open Access şi a arhivelor deschise (Open Archives) în contextul comunicării ştiinţifice. Este definit conceptul de arhivă deschisă, precum şi tipologia documentelor şi arhivelor existente la nivel european. Sunt abordate aspectele juridice ale arhivelor deschise, în ceea ce priveşte garantarea accesului liber şi gratuit la documentele depuse, neutilizarea lor comercială şi respectarea dreptului de autor. Concluziile prezintă principalele avantaje, atât pentru cercetători, cât şi din punct de vedere instituţional ale publicării într-o arhivă deshisă, cu referire la obiectivul stabilit la nivel european privind dezvoltarea unei infrastructure europene de depozite digitale. The rational exploitation of the results of scientific research first depends on the level of access to these results. This principle has determined the appearance in the research communities of the Open Archives movement, with the purpose of promoting a free access to the world scientific literature. The article presents the main marks regarding the origins and evolution of the Open Access and Open Archives movement in the context of scientific communication. It is deffined the concept of open archive, and also the type of documents and archives that already exist at a European level. There are also approached the legal aspects regarding the open archives, the free and open access to the submitted documents, the forbiddance to use them in commercial activities and the respect to author rights. The conclusion presents the main advantages, for researchers, but also for the institution, to publish in an open archive, with reference to the esablished European objectif regarding the development of a European infrastructure of digitalized deposits.
