Summary/Abstract: Among several kinds bilingual lexical comparisons there are also comparisons of polyglot words in concrete contexts of the original and translation, which give the facts of functioning of those or other units of language. Comparing translations with their originals, the researcher defines those kinds of the verbal information, which necessarily should be transferred while translating what inevitably appear to be liquidated, and also what it is possible to alter to some extent. The analysis of compensation ways while translating those infomiative discrepancies existing between compared units of initial and translation languages is important too. The comparative analysis of texts of the original and translation allows to see how semantics of lexemes of one language and the same semantics transferred in the speaking of another language text is realised. The given comparatively analysed stories (A. Chehov's short stories and their corresponding Latvian translations) have served as material resources.
