Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the formation of the institutional approach to the musical art as a part of Ukrainian historical musicology. The author presents the concepts of the history of Ukrainian music, given by M. Grinchenko (1922); V. Dovzhenko (1957); L. Arkhimovych, O. Shreyer-Tkachenko, T. Sheffer, T. Karysheva (1961); O.Y. ShreyerTkachenko (1980); M.M. Gordiychuk, O.G. Kostuk, T.P. Bulat, M.P. Zagaykevich, V.V. Kuzik, I.F. Lyashenko, A.I. Mukha, L.O. Parkhomenko, O.A. Pravduk, A.K. Tereschenko (1990s). In these concepts a range of research perspectives is circled out: historical and musicological, sociological, axiological, culturological. Most of them overlap, turn one into another, diffuse, but contain theoretical and practical experience of the institutional system of musical art research. The issue of establishing the institute of music and their functioning began to emerge in the late nineteenth century. and developed during the twentieth century. scientific quests musicologists, sociologists, culture. We believe that the theory and practical experience in research institutional arrangements of music have now acquired integrative nature, interdisciplinary status and therefore require polimetodolohichnoho approach. It coexists range of research perspectives historical and musicological, sociological, axiological, cultural, most of which overlap, pass each other, diffusing, but projections for the formation of methodological principles of Ukrainian historical musicology is not considered in detail. The first holistic textbook on the history of Ukrainian music is a book of the same name M. Grinchenko approved Society. Leontovych and published in 1922 History of Music, in terms of the scholar, "is the evolution of its forms, since during this term refers to anything that is not only associated with the technique of this art, but also the history of art ideas through creative activities artist transformed into a particular appearance. " The musical form is interpreted as a work in which he lives the soul of the artist, his creative idea, for which he found appropriate real discovery. N. Grinchenko formulates methodological profile music history as an evolutionary progress. So the researcher is a supporter of the integration of evolutionary and cultural approaches to music history. Causing that historical path is best for understanding the current state of music, scientist confirms its commitment to the historical method of knowledge. "Essays on the history of Ukrainian Soviet music" V. Dovzhenko (part I, K., 1957) structured in periods following periods of Ukrainian music: 1917, 1920, 1921, 1925, 1926 - 1934 biennium. Comprehensive development of Ukrainian music contributed to the activities of Ukrainian music Committee of the People's Commissar of Education of the USSR. Music and theater of this period presented the activities of the Kiev Opera House (a few performances of domestic and foreign classics in 1919 in the working areas of the city), Ukrainian musical drama (musical director J. Steppe invited to work Sobinov L., M. Litvinenko-Volgemut M. Donets etc.). In the organization of institutions of concert and musical-theatrical life was the leading factor artistic and educational work with the population. Outstanding direction of choral music culture was performance art. Landmark event in the establishment of the methodology of historical musicology is the publication "Musical Culture of Ukraine" edited by L. Arhimovych, A. Tkachenko, Shreyer, T. Schaeffer, T. Karysheva. In 1990-ies. Was a four-edition "History of Ukrainian music" made by the Institute of folklore, musicology and Ethnography. M. Rila National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Frequently textbooks and manuals of the twentieth century with the subject "History of Ukrainian music" frontally present formation methodology of historical musicology. We allocated as uncovered: biographical, the historical reconstruction of historical and typological, descriptive, chronological, historiography (milestones of evolution), historical and comparative methods; the authors tested the idea of professionalization of music, the development of music education, musicology, music criticism in detail investigated genres and styles Ukrainian academic music. On the basis of publications generalization can be made that in the context of the methodology Ukrainian historical musicology formed institutional approach defined major structural elements of the institutional system of music.
