Modern art festivals basic development trends in Kiev at the end of XXth and in the early XXIth century

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the development of the festival movement in Kiev. Between 1990 and 2013 marked a large number of festivals dedicated to contemporary art. These festivals reflect the processes of democratization that took place in Ukraine and Kiev. Part of the festival continues the tradition of activities of Soviet times. Another part of the festival presents new trends in art. For the greater openness characteristic of form and content. They are analogous to the projects of European origin. Mobility, dynamic cultural processes while loss of regular financial support caused particular urgency and multiplicity of festivals. Festival tradition has a long history that is associated with the early stages of the traditional society, which subsequently result of a long evolution, receives a form of cultural and artistic phenomena of various kinds and directions.
