Energy Security in Media on the Example of Poland

Summary/Abstract: The topic of energy security is getting more important from year to year. Political debates are moving, for example, from governmental organizations to non-governmental organizations, to the public, to investors in the energy sector, and to academic researchers or other research centres. The above groups use media such as television, radio, newspapers (daily newspapers and sometimes scientific journals), the Internet (websites, social networks, discussion forums), books including scientific publications. The availability of different channels of information gives potential viewers the opportunity to confront the content they receive. The recipient must honestly analyze, evaluate and select information that is „bombed” on each side. Due to this fact, this publication aims to indicate the role of the media in the creation of Poland’s energy security strategy. An analysis of examples of sources of information is to be made to assess their credibility and attractiveness. Chapter One is a definition and discusses the role of traditional and interactive media. The second and third chapters are practical in showing the ways of transmitting information on energy security by particular media in Poland. The entirety of the publication is concluded with a summary of the analyzed contents.
