Summary/Abstract: The present article seeks to answer questions about the extent of the visual changes in the ecclesiastical space and the attitudes towards Catholic church art in 16thcentury Tallinn. Rearrangement of ecclesiastical space and issues in the use of church furnishings have been viewed by concentrating on the changes that took place in St Nicholas' Church in Tallinn during the first post-Reformation century. The article focuses on the analysis of possibilities and practices of further using the church furnishings and income against the background of theological, political and economic changes, as well as developments in commissioning Lutheran church art.
