Summary/Abstract: The author aims to identify the main aspects in the study of the national traditions revival in the Ukrainian avant-garde works of the 1960s – the so called Sixties, who changed or found a style that was not approved by the socialist realism under the influence of external and internal circumstances, made the art explosion and contributed to Ukraine's independence. The high level of Ukrainian patriotism, a strong interest in art and aesthetic phenomena that define the Ukrainian people as a nation, at present make the issue of Ukrainian national traditions in art extremely topical. Representatives’ of the art movement "Sixties" aim was to combine the European and home traditions, to make the Ukrainian art belong to the world. The main research task for the author is to prove the thesis that the national tradition in the works of the young intellectuals of the 60s in the last century has the historical origin and goes back to the period of "Executed Renaissance" and Ukrainian Baroque period.
