Summary/Abstract: This article is about the lighting equipment, through which the light creates a design on the inside or the outside stage during mass spectacle. The stage space, where a director and an art director work, is the result of creative transfer and effort of lighting designer, as it is the lighting design that creates some kind of a new reality, beating the darkness of shadows and bringing order among chaos. Therefore, the lighting designer, creating the lighting setup, is coming in the middle between technology and art. The idea of mass spectacles could only be clear and unambiguous when the lighting designer, art director and the mythmaker work together effectively. Their joint creative efforts must be looking towards achieving structure harmony and the spectacle concept embodiment. This requires that the art director must have specific technical expertise, be aware of general lighting techniques and show involvement in the creative process. It is commonly known that light is one of the most important things in human life. It accompanies us every day and night, affecting us biologically and letting us see things surrounding us and the reality itself. The color tint of light is also very important for human beings. Color leads to action, inspires and triggers concerns, warns of danger, calms down and controls our subconsciousness. Imitating natural light phenomenon to illuminate enclosed space with the use of artificial light is not the only important task the lighting director will face. Using technical means, he must aim for creating a certain mood, atmosphere or blended atmospheres on the stage to reflect a particular moment of the show. Setting the mass spectacle is about creating the Content (text) and Shape (directing, scenic and lighting design). Thus, today lighting design is rising to the same gravity as directing and scenic design exercises. Light does not only define space, creating an illusion of its increasing or decreasing size, but also it creates an unbelievable spectacle in virtual dimension. Light on the stage is the creator of water, earth, air and fire – the creator of all emotional conditions, in general. Light creates music along with orchestra and accompanies its main chords with color tints. It also creates a 3D illusion in a plain dimension. The audience physically and metaphysically perceives light as a source of knowledge and an aesthetic phenomenon, really feeling the optical extravaganza. To implement a creative idea, with layout planning (fixation) and lighting equipment installation, it is required to have a broad range of lighting devices that change spotlight radiance. Each type of lighting equipment has its own purpose. For example, aerial, profile and dynamic lighting, projection, special effects and more. Nowadays, lighting equipment development pace is hard to overrate, nor it is easy to foretell tomorrow's lighting equipment innovations, novelties and designs. We can already see that all actions related to light beam movement, color changes and light-triggered pictures can be developed and programmed in advance via computer software and played during the spectacle. Not only smart lighting tools can be considered as modern dynamic equipment, but also any other lighting equipment, which can remotely control any position change, color, brightness, gobo alternations and light beam disclosure angles. The lighting director's tropology is as expressive as the artist’s brush. Quality lighting design can be as harmonic as a music piece. Scientists believe that when the viewer is looking at the 'lighting canvas', then he spends 25% his energy resources and exhausts up to 80% of the nervous system. In addition, no matter how much time was spent getting up the lighting set or how expensive the lighting equipment was, the quality criterion lies in the proper interaction between light sources, lighting angles and particular colors used. Modern lighting equipment provides very specific forms of lighting such as motion light and motion color. In fact, it is impossible to imagine current lighting design of any mass spectacle without these specific advances. The contrast between colors and expressive forms of lighting creates a dynamic tension that allows making an artistic lighting to an integral aesthetic part not only for stage design but also for myth-incarnation.
