Summary/Abstract: The current tendencies of musical mentality of Italians are explored by means of analysis of performance stylistics of modern Italian pianist F. Attesti. Analysed was the solo program, performed by Attesti on the International festival "Kharkiv Assemblies," 2012. Impressions gained from the concert and listening to the performed pieces' digital recordings allowed to create the verbal image of "italian musical mentality" as the reflection of the Italians' perception of their own national identity. The first part of the program proposed to Kharkiv audience was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of unification of Italy. The pieces by G.B. Pescetti, D. Scarlatti, G. Verdi, G. Rossini, J. S. Bach in transcript by F. Busoni, A. Piazzolla (the Argentinian composer with Italian origins). The historical exploration of Italy's musical past was supplemented with romantical program of the second part, where the listeners were presented with "Italian-style" interpretation of pieces by F. Chopin and F. Liszt. In laconic Allegretto by G. B. Pescetti and in Sonata D-dur K 199 by D. Scarlatti the pianist had demonstrated the virtuous grasp of the fractionary piano technique perlé (the prototype of which is doubtlessly the quick Italian talk (parlando)), the absolute equality and determination of each element's sound in fascinating "pearl" passages, which is a distinctive feature of Italian masters of clavier music.
