The discourse of the journalistic narrative between literality and literarity

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of our paper is to check whether or not the news-coverage text displays conspicuous features. Namely, is this discourse self-sufficient, or does it rely on other formal language registers? The outcome of the above-mentioned debate is that, despite the media’ commitment to outspoken factuality, academic inquiry in the field proves that telling apart the hard-fact narrative from the fictional one is easier said than done, to the extent to which, sometimes, the rhetoric devices of story-telling account for truth-attribution in the language of reporting.
