Summary/Abstract: Central place in the article occupies an analysis of modern situation of the ways of evolution in the European sacred music including both its catholic and orthodox branches. The main question is that of great variety inside of the European sacral music which produces different genre deviations inside the same religious tradition. The process is usually regarded as negative – due to destructive results of cultural crisis. But the real reason of that lays in the specificity of the European culture which is continuously changing. So we need not fear of any deviation because it is the basic trait of the culture.
