Regarding the question about the culture creating potential of the theatre

Summary/Abstract: In the article the nature of the notion of the word “potential” is highlighted. The components of the culture creating potential of the theatrical establishment are analyzed and characterized with the example of the activity of Nizhyn Academic Ukrainian Dramatic Theater after M. Kotsyubinskiy. Methodology. The research methodology includes terms-related, system and cognitive methods. This methodology approach allows us to study the term of “potential”, to research and analyze the notions, defined by it. The structure of the tangible and non-tangible resources of the theater has been described. The cultural studies approach allows us to analyze the potential of the theater as a cultural phenomenon. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelties of the article are the detection of the the culture – creating potential of the theater influence on the forming of the urban culture, the analysis of the capacity of reserve and potential of Nizhyn Academic Ukrainian Dramatic Theater after M. Kotsyubynskyy. Conclusions. The notion of “the potential” is highlighted. The potential of the theatrical establishment is defined. The potential is characterized by three levels: achievements, available and prospective. The capacity of the reserve and potential of Nizhyn Theater are analyzed.
