Summary/Abstract: Urban shrinkage is currently a problem of urbanisation processes in Poland. Systemic changes in Poland, and subsequently the process of integration with the European Union affected the structure and dynamics of the changes in the population of the country, especially in urban areas. The main issue of this paper is to identify the main symptoms of urban shrinking within the area of population changes. The author has characterised the current situation in Polish cities in the context of depopulation phenomena. The analysed period covers the years 2000-2015
