New social movements in the processes of cities’ governance

Summary/Abstract: New social movements as more and more popular form of social activity may in the near future play an important role in governance of local government units, especially in big city units. The aim of this article is to present the examples of informal engagement of inhabitants in decision-making processes on local level, which reflect social participation. Gathered conclusions will help to present the perspectives of development of such informal movements in Poland and the possibility of increasing their influence on the activity of local governances on local levels.
