Summary/Abstract: The article considers the impact of political censorship on the development of a popular scientific genre in the USSR in 1960—1980-s. Not only the official censorship presented by «Glavlit» (Main Administration for Safeguarding State Secrets in the Press) but also various forms of party and state control is analyzed. Various forms of scientific promoting, including literature, scientific cinema and television are investigated.
