Summary/Abstract: A major challenges of media ethics nowadays is to make a selection of ethical standards applicable to this field, a revaluation of media ethics in order to maintain valid some of the ethical principles and eliminate or replace the outdated ones. Some principles, such as respect for truth, are valid regardless of media support. Nevertheless, one of the most common issue today is that mainstream media journalists pick up rumors and fake news from the social media without a proper verification. Citizen journalism is a valuable source of information or images, especially in cases where professional journalists do not have access or have limited access to information, but is also criticized for ignoring ethical standards.
