«Attendant of truth and people»: Traits to a portrait of the intelligentsia member and populist I. N. Kharlamov

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the views of the writer and publicist I. N. Kharlamov (1854—1887) as a typical representative of the populist intelligentsia, native of the clergy. Considered are the main stages of his life. Made is the attempt to define a role of the family, the social origin and the intelligentsia environment in formation of the populist outlook and the basic principles of literary and publicist creativity. Disclosure of shape of the intelligentsia member and populist is promoted by the responses of his contemporaries given in the publication.
