Summary/Abstract: In Poland, the public administration is accountable for countering and responding to the natural disasters by the management of rescuing capabilities and by providing support to the affected local population. The Territorial Defence Forces (TDF), as a new component of the Polish Armed Forces (PAF), are to have capabilities for carrying out supportive missions to the protective subsystems of an internal security and providing the assistance to the society. Therefore, TDF are going to be a vital supportive element to the public administration in countering and response to the natural disasters. Being a new structure and being different from the other components of PAF, TDF require integration with current solutions while the army is used in case of an extraordinary threat occurrence and stipulation of rules of collaboration with the public administration. In this article, the attempt was undertaken in order to identify the needs, possibilities and determinants of TDF’s cooperation with the public administration when disasters hit the country.
