Change of the image of Polish countryside in the context of cohesion policy

Summary/Abstract: Joining the European Union was for Poland a great chance for reducing disproportion of socio-economic development on national, regional and local level. This was associated with numorous concerns and commitments which had to be accomplished. Using cohesion policy funds gave an opportunity to fulfil UE demands. One of the sectors which needed that support was agriculture and rural areas. The aim of this article is to present a situation of Polish agriculture and rural areas. Moreover the article shows country tensions before Polish accession and the effects of European integration as well as the common agricultural policy 10 years after the membership in the Union. To this end, we made an analysis and review of reports of Fundation for the Development of Polish Agriculture for 2006, 2012, 2014, as well as research of Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) and reports of Public Opinion Research Center.
