Summary/Abstract: Our study aims to point the deep motivations that led some authors to practice the exercise of translation and to accept the role of cultural mediators; we will analyze, beyond the conditions of their translations, the various discursive strategies used in the transfer or the adaptation of a foreign text, pursuing the tension between the occultation of their creative selves and their desire of affirmation. Considering the importance of the reception through the personal reading and the personal writings, we also try to show how the imaginary of the writer-translator is involved in the translation process
