Reasons related to the implementation of improvement tools in quality management systems

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to identify the main reasons related to the implementation of improvement tools in their quality management systems. Their identification was based on a thorough analysis of the literature, as well as on the analysis of the results of empirical research conducted using the questionnaire technique in companies operating in Poland. The results of these analyzes indicate that the company improving quality management systems usually implements the environmental management system and system safety management and occupational health, as well as makes efforts to implement elements of the Toyota Production System or Lean Management. A significant evidence of implementation of these tools should include reducing the risk of hazards associated with the product and to processes, increasing process efficiency (by reducing inconsistencies and waste, shorten cycle processes), as well as reducing the negative impact on the environment.
