The Unfinished Wall of Delusion

Summary/Abstract: In the movie The Machinist, Trevor loses everything that can be lost. He loses himself and the control of his life. He is transformed from the man with a present, a past and a future in a man with no one of this. He is transformed from something to nothing. At the end of the movie Trevor looks like a human ruin that cannot do any service for himself, for the community and for the society where he lives. This situation changes at the end of the movie, when he decides to surrender himself to the police. But before he arrives at this point, he has two possibilities: 1) To live like a Freeman, out of the prison, trying to deny the role of the killer and to live the good man only in the fantasy; 2) To accept the role of the killer and punish himself with prison, in order to become a good man.
