Summary/Abstract: The article devoted to the analysis the approaches to estimating the volume of informal sector in the economy of the regions. In the article analyzed the calculation method of the shadow economy by production function of Cobb-Douglas, identified its weeknesses. The volume of the shadow economy in Kharkiv region was calculated by this function, admit a general tendency to an increase.
