Summary/Abstract: Language, as a fundamental human activity, is an indispensable part of all other human activities. The diversity of these other human activities and life situations is also conditioned by the variety of languages we use. This paper deals with the examination of different attitudes regarding the terminological definition of linguistic stratification phenomena, and the types of linguistic stratification and their functionalities in language use.
