Summary/Abstract: This article talks about the geography, topography, and environment of Lithuania’s medieval (13th–14th century) cremation cemeteries, distinguishing and surveying the regional similarities and differences of the burial sites. The aim of the research was to investigate the features of medieval cremation cemeteries and to define a burial site conception. In order to realise this aim, the article looks at 13th–14th-century cremation cemeteries from a complex perspective for the first time: it examines the relationship between cemeteries and the communities that used them, the ties with the surrounding environment, and the remembrance of the burial sites, vividly revealing them through language and folklore data. Finally, it discusses the condition of the cremation cemeteries from the perspective of modern heritage management.
