Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to review the literature on the health impact of wines. Wine contains many chemical compounds which presence depends on the vine variety, the environment in which grapes were cultivated, fermentation method, aging of wine and its age. The main component of the wine is water (approx. 90%), and ethanol (9-18%). Wine also contains organic acids, aldehydes, esters, sugars and tannins as well as macro-and micro-elements, vitamins and antioxidants. The article presents health, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of grape wines. It is assumed that wine may have a positive effect on human body, due to its chemical composition.
