Summary/Abstract: The article is based on the decision of the Grand chamber of the European court of human rights rendered in May 2016 in the case Avotiņš v. Latvia. In this decision, the Grand chamber decided for the first time after the CJCE opinion 2/13 on the future of the equivalent protection doctrine. The Grand chamber confirmed the vivacity of the Bosphorus rule. The text considers whether it could be read between the lines of the decision the possible future signs of the relationship between the European court of human rights and the Court of justice of the European Union when deciding on the possible breach of the Convention by a member state applying an act of the union.
