Summary/Abstract: The minimum wage, one of the oldest quantities of income, is the lowest level of wage that the employer is obliged to pay to the employee for his or her job performance or services rendered in a given period of time. In relation to employees and employers, it serves the function of social protection and economic criterion. In the Czech Republic, the institute of the minimum wage based on Art. 28 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms is stipulated in the provision § 111 of Act no. 262/2006 Coll. of the Labor Code, as amended. Effective from 01/01/2016, the standard minimum wage rate has been increased from 9,200 CZK to 9,900 CZK.
