Summary/Abstract: The article presents the profile of Benedetto Croce, a Neapolitan thinker, called a symbol and guide of the intellectual renovation of Italy in the first half of XX. century. The characteristic feature of his views was a Hegelian system-like manner of thinking, a desire of enclosing the whole reality. The authoress underlines some pointers of his philosophy, such as spiritualism, idealism, monism, holism, variabilism, and circlism. These features are strictly connected with nature which makes them possessed by reality. The only existing reality is the ideal, timeless and omnipresent Spirit, beyond which there is nothing else. Croce distinguished four moments of the Spirit: art, logic, economy and ethics. A special place in the Crocean philosophy of Spirit is taken by art which penetrates all reality. Thus Croce’s system gains a feature of extreme aestheticism.
