Summary/Abstract: Subtitling, a fundamental element of audiovisual translation, enables us to follow the verbal sequence of an audiovisual document projected in a language that is foreign to us. But to what extent is subtitling capable of guaranteeing the effectiveness of communication as well as the transfer of the semantic values and functions? In the following pages, we will analyze the place of Discursive Markers (MD) in the original French version of a program broadcast on TV5 and in the Arabic version with subtitles. We will study the markers that were preserved and those that have been retracted and we will try to verify if the final subtitled product is therefore less informative than the original text or not
