THE ANALYSIS OF NAGORNO KARABAKH PROBLEM FROM THE CONFLICT RESOLUTION PERSPECTIVE

Summary/Abstract: Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict is one of the most complex international problems today. In this study, this conflict was analyzed from the conflict resolution perpective by assessing and discussing its historical background, reasons and involving actors‟ positions and policies. Accordingly, one of the main reasons of the conflict is the nation-building process of Azerbaijan and Armenia after the collapse of USSR when mutual antagonism has begun to arise which has been instigated by both states. In this context, it was concluded that trust and dialog must be increased between two states and societies to eliminate this antagonism. Besides, it was emphasized that democratization has vital importance for a healthy, peaceful and permanent solution.
