Summary/Abstract: This work consists of introduction and several special parts, with particular focus on certain German court cases. Introductory part deals with team work of physicians who are specialists for different areas of medical practice and with the necessity of their joint work on treating a particular patient. It is observed that the team work nurtures increased probability of physician's errors. Those errors may be described as: 1) errors in communication, 2) imperfect coordination, 3) erroneous qualification, and 4) errors in distribution of of competences. This increased chance of commiting errors prompted lawyers to address whether, in addition for being responsible for its own errors, every physician also bears liability for errors of other team participants? In principle, the answer to this question is negative. Namely, it is submitted that it would have been unbearable and impractical to hold physicians responsible for every error and carelesness of other team members, akin to a kind of joint and several liability spread among them.
