Summary/Abstract: The core of the article is based on findings from fieldwork in Oslo and Stavanger (Norway). The article deals with the difficulties of integration of Lithuanian immigrants to the dominant society (Norwegian). In order to explore these difficulties the theoretical dichotomy of “the self” and “the other” are employed as a theoretical background. Furthermore, also the attitudes of immigrants from Lithuania toward the dominant society and toward other immigrant groups are analysed. The analysis shows what strategies are employed by Lithuanians for inclusion to the new country and what strategies and attitudes still act as an exclusion.
