Summary/Abstract: This article presents the vocational training system of social workers in two countries, Poland and the United States. It shows the training of social workers at the vocational secondary level, higher education (on two degrees) and the forms of professional development in the forms of specialization, as well as the possibility of obtaining a Ph.D. (a doctorate). The article shows the development of an occupation in the historical and contemporary context. It points out the differences in both educational systems and areas to consider in the future.
