Summary/Abstract: Periodicals have a very important role in the history of Hungarian literature in Vojvodina. The paper's aim is to analyze the phenomenon of visuality in the Hungarian periodicals in Vojvodina. This work is the introductory part of a comprehensive research. When discussing the essence of the periodical Új Symposion, Beáta Thomka emphasizes the joint presence of both textual and visual languages. This tradition also affects other, later periodicals in the region: Symposion, Ex symposion (published in Hungary), DNS (post-alphabetical periodical), Jelfolyam (online art magazine) and kARTon. To begin with the paper deals with questions of visuality, the summarizes the relevant observations in literature written about Új Symposion and finally, it looks into the variations on Új Symposion's tradition, and the periodical's continuation in present day Hungarian literature in Vojvodina.
