Summary/Abstract: Lubor Niederle (1865—1944) remains a classic of historical and archaeological science not only because he used so modern now interdisciplinary research (archaeology, history, anthropology, ethnology, linguistics). He proposed a balanced approach to the problems of initial history of the Slavs, avoiding the extremes of “autochtonism”, took into account external influences on the ancient culture and history of the Slavs. His research is still relevant.
