Summary/Abstract: I, translator, confess. This is the self-testimony of a young literary Romanian-Portuguese translator, his adventures and misadventures, his difficulties and enormous satisfactions. As a translator of poetry, Corneliu Popa had the opportunity to meet and learn the craft of literary translation with some leading personalities from the two literatures: Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, Pedro Tamen, Fernando Pinto Amaral, Casimiro de Brito, Ana Blandiana, Mircea Dinescu, Marin Sorescu, Dinu Flamand. On what concerns literary prose, he had the great challenge of translating a Romanian literature masterpiece: Wasted Morning by Gabriela Adameşteanu, with the added difficulties of dealing with a living contemporary author. His translations were published by prestigious Portuguese publishers, including Leya and Guerra & Paz, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
