Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the issue of pro-drop configurations within the Principles and Parameters framework (P&P) and the Minimalist Program (MP) with respect to comparative syntactic analysis of German, Polish and Yiddish. The point of departure is the assumption that the omission of the subject is not only inflection-conditioned but also configuration-dependent. The pro-drop configurations are a necessary condition to consider Polish as a pro-drop-language. Polish examples are here compared with the sentences in German, a non-pro-drop-language, and analysed with reference to Yiddish. The questions of focus here are: which features of Yiddish can be derived from the pro-dropparameter and which equivalents can be found in the German and which in the Polish language?
