Summary/Abstract: In the article the Russian military mission to Iran in 1877 is considered. V.A. Frankini mission was one of the stock of foreign policy and military security of the impending war, which were made from 1876 on the Balkans. Study of the Persian army by then finally removed from the agenda the idea of involving Persia by Russia as a valuable ally in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877–1878. As a result, the Russian representatives succeeded in gaining the benevolent neutrality of Tehran. Mission initiated the establishment of the Persian Cossack Brigade in 1879.
