Summary/Abstract: For the European Union (E.U.) and its Member States, migration is not a new phe-nomenon. Administratively abnormal immigration is mainly at the heart of all humanitarian efforts and political debates on the harmonization of the Union’scommon immigration policy. However, even today, the notion of irregular immigra-tion and the exact wording of the terminology associated with the specific dimen-sion of the phenomenon has not found a general and acceptable version. Interpreta-tions on the categorization of immigrants and their movements depends every timeon political discussions, public documents issued and academic studies. The essaydemonstrates the variety of use of the relevant terms focusing on the inseparable de-pendency on the performance of interpretation of the two terms “irregular immigra-tion” and “illegal immigrant”.
