MODERN MANAGEMENT METHODS FOR TRUCK AND VAN FLEETS IN POLAND

Summary/Abstract: A dynamic demand for road carriage of a variety of goods has prompted a rapid increase in the number of businesses operating a variety of different motor cars. These are most often private, state-owned or cooperative enterprises operating at least 5 motor cars (car fleets).The purpose of this article is to present modern management methods for commercial truck and van fleets. We argue that, for all practical purposes, trucks are available on a round the clock basis. The article describes advanced management methods and tools, such as on-board computers, tyres, GPS, assistance, fuel cards, or payment systems. We also address the issue of car fleet insurance.
