Life and Scientific Work of Ethnologists Milan Karanović

Summary/Abstract: There is no doubt that the work of Milan Karanović, curator of the National Museum in Sarajevo between the two World Wars, presents the fundamental ethnological research on the territory of Bosanska Krajina and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to his enthusiasm and work, valuable traces of our past are eternalzed by written words, photographs and objects of material and spiritual culture. Unfortunately, such work of Milan Karanović has been forgotten and insufficiently known to the general public. Due to this fact, it is necessary to recall upon the great importance of this ethnologist, although, by profession, he was an Orthodox priest. This exceptional ethnologist on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina was respected by the great scientists, like Jovan Cvijić, and it is necessary to repay ourselves to him with some kind of written word.
