Summary/Abstract: In the field of road transport, the European Parliament has promoted and supported, by means of numerous resolutions and reports, progressive opening of the market of transport of goods and people. Nonetheless, the Parliament continuously signaled the need to ensure the liberalization and harmonization of the social environment and the safety of transports. This paper addresses the role of the European Parliament in the transport sector, in terms of policies and regulations.
