A Different Conservation Suggestion for the Cultural Heritage Sustainability: A Sample of Aksaray Sultanhani

Summary/Abstract: This study has been prepared with the aim of on the historical Silk Road named Sultanhanı, the largest known Seljuk Caravanserai of the World; possesses a unique local identity with its existing natural, historical and cultural values; was also prepared by the SWOT analysis in order to evaluate the potential of the Sultanhanı, which is known as the "Carpet Restoration Center in the World", on the historical carpet restoration known and preferred by the carpet collectors within the scope of ecomuseum. Within the scope of the research, a structured form prepared in line with expert opinions with local governments, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and local people, to enable the Sultanhanı to become an ecomuseum and to transfer its values to the future by preserving the values it possesses and to make conscious of stakeholders related to ecomuseum related data were obtained. The results of the SWOT analysis support the enhancement of the tourism potential in the region, the revitalization of traditional values for tourism and the development of human resources in the implementation of ecomuseum. Research results proves that using the cultural tourism potential that Sultanhanı has the sustainability of cultural heritage is possible with the practices of ecomuseum.
